Durham and Teesside Group Seminar.

Report

Many thanks to all who attended our Seminar, Held at Mount Oswald Manor and Golf Club, I have had a lot of good feedback from attendees saying how much they had enjoyed it and how much they had learnt.

The day started at 10.30am with Tea/Coffee and Biscuits.

11.00am -12.00pm
The first talk was from two representitives of Neue Schule Bits, they gave an interesting talk on bitting and how each design of bit works and an insight into mouth conformation.

12.00pm-1.00pm
Lunch time, Mount Oswald put on a lovely Carvery, (including a Vegetarian option) which was enjoyed by all.

1.00pm-2.00pm
Our second talk of the day, on Laminitis was given by Karl Collins MVB MRSVS. The talk was very informative and I feel we all left feeling a lot more knowlegable on the subject.

2.00pm-3.00pm
Our third and final talk by Graham Harland (A farrier from Harrogate, N Yorkshire), Who came armed with the lower half of a horses leg (a real one !!) and showed a fantastic disection, showing us how the tendons and ligaments work, and finally showing us the foot and how Laminitis can happen, and it's effects.

I hope to put on another similar event in the future, so watch this space.

Michelle Stanley.
