Welcome To The North Pennines

And The Elephant Trees Ride 2010

The Elephant Trees are a local landmark in lower Weardale, they are an old stand of Beech trees which from certain angles look just like, would you believe it ……..elephants!

The routes for the ride begin and end in a field just outside of Hamsterley Forest and all distances offered include a stretch on the beautiful moorland surrounding Hamsterley Forest, including Egglestone, Bollihope, Hamsterley Common and Doctor’s Gate.  One of England’s most special places – a stunning landscape of open heather moors and peatlands, attractive dales and hay meadows, tumbling upland rivers and wonderful woods.

The 2010 ride will be offering a 80k ER, 80k CR, 65k CR, 40k CR’s and 25k NCR. The 80k ER is offered for 2010 with a view to testing the route for the Northern Championships to run from here in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

If you enjoy the challenge of a true ‘endurance ride’ with stunning scenery, a challenging route, friendly atmosphere and a beautiful venue then this is the ride for you.  Why not put it on your calendar for next year and enjoy riding the so called ‘backbone of England’, you won’t be disappointed.
